Hello, my name is
Dr. Lorissa Hines
Dr. Lorissa Hines grew up in California and graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a degree in Kinesiology. With friends in Texas she decided to move to the Lone Star State to attend the University of Texas for a master’s degree. Little did she know that the part time job as a nanny would lead to true love and she married the uncle of her little charges. These two young kids felt drawn to medicine and in 1998 they started medical school at Texas A&M Health Science Center. Looking for a change of scenery the couple moved to Lexington, KY and Dr. Lori Hines finished her pediatric residency in 2005. After a brief stop in Dallas, the couple returned to Austin. Finally. Together, they have four children.
Dr. Hines has always had a passion for the growth and development of children of all ages. She has worked at schools as a coach and teacher, mentored student-athletes at the University of Texas, she has taught swimming, and run an outdoor camp for 4-Hers. She has been blessed to work with the local charity Heart Gift and hosted children from around the world while they received life-saving heart surgery from physicians at Dell Children’s Hospital.
Raising her children takes up most of her time outside of medicine. Dr. Hines is a very proud “band mom” and volunteers as the medical chaperone as often as possible. She enjoys the challenge of gardening in the extremes of weather Austin provides. The Hines family also has three dogs, a cat, and 12 chickens.
